And it is called Spiritual Ecology

From Ladakh to Bhutan, Buddhist nuns and monks from 60 centers in the Himalayan region work on environmental protection. From cleaning up rivers, to installing solar panels, the nuns and monks approach the environment with a sense of compassion, recognizing the interdependence and inter-connectivity of all things.

How telling, the cries of children at play

play

Shrieks, yelps, hollers, squeals.

Giggles, chuckles, chortles and belly laughter.

Innocent, carefree, cheerful.

Hide-and seek, tackles, tussles, tumbles, wrestles.

Scraped knee, chipped tooth, fractured arm and tears.

Honest accidents.

No worries, no fear, no prejudice, no judgement.

The play goes on.

Healthy, happy, no care in the world but fun,

certain love will wipe bloodied knees and tears.

Because adults stay adults – responsible,

making certain there is food for the belly.

for bright eyes, strong bones and lungs robust,  hollaring carefree cries

The society is fair, just, equal.

GDP is up, businesses prospering and tax bearable,

because government is wise, the adults wealthy, the children healthy.

How telling the cries of children at play

Linger awhile, what can you hear?
